Principal Engineer / Technical Lead – Digital Transformation - Dynamics Experience

£650 Inside IR35

Brio Digital are supporting a major digital transformation programme, and we’re looking for a Principal Engineer / Technical Lead to play a key role in its delivery.

This is a chance to lead impactful, real-world work within a complex public sector environment — bringing technical leadership, strategic thinking, and a pragmatic approach to solving large-scale engineering challenges.

You’ll provide direction and guidance across multidisciplinary teams, shaping technical solutions and ensuring the quality, scalability, and sustainability of the engineering output.

What We’re Looking For

• Deep expertise in the Microsoft technology stack, including Azure, Azure DevOps (ADO), and particularly Microsoft Dynamics (essential).

• Strong working knowledge of modern programming languages such as C#, .NET, Ruby, and Python.

• A proven track record of leading large technical initiatives in agile environments, ideally within engineering or platform modernisation programmes.

• The ability to operate confidently in complex enterprise IT environments, balancing innovation with practical delivery.

• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.

• Prior experience working within the public sector or healthcare domains is highly desirable.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading technical delivery across a complex digital transformation programme, setting engineering direction and standards.
• Acting as the technical authority across multiple delivery streams, ensuring alignment with architectural principles and programme objectives.
• Working closely with product, delivery, and architecture teams to design and implement scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
• Providing hands-on technical leadership and mentoring to engineers across disciplines.
• Evaluating and introducing new tools, technologies, and best practices to enhance delivery efficiency and quality.
• Managing senior stakeholder relationships and providing clear, pragmatic technical advice in high-stakes situations.
• Driving continuous improvement within teams and promoting a culture of engineering excellence.
