Cookie Policy
This policy explains how our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including the strictly necessary cookies that keep the site secure and remember your choices, and the analytics cookies we use, with your permission, to understand how visitors use the site.
It also sets out which providers set each cookie, how long they last, and how you can change your cookie choices at any time.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work in the same way. We call them all "cookies" in this policy.
How we use cookies
We use cookies that are strictly necessary to run our website securely and to remember your cookie choices. These are always on.
With your permission, we also use analytics cookies from Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use our website so we can improve it. Analytics cookies are only set if you agree, and nothing is set until you make a choice.
Strictly necessary cookies
These make the website work securely and record your cookie choices.
We set several cookies to record your choices because each one covers a different type of data. They are all set to "no" until you tell us otherwise.
Strictly necessary cookies do not need your consent because the website cannot work securely without them. You can block them in your browser, but parts of the site, including our forms, may not work.
Analytics cookies
These help us understand how people use our website so we can improve it. We only set them if you agree.
Google Analytics counts how many people visit, where they came from, such as a search engine or a social media post, which pages they look at and how they move through the site.
Microsoft Clarity records how people interact with pages, including clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, and builds heatmaps showing which parts of a page get attention. It is set up to hide anything you type into a form, so that information is never recorded or sent to Microsoft.
We do not use either tool for advertising. Google's advertising features are turned off on our account.
Google Analytics keeps event and user data for 14 months. Microsoft Clarity keeps session recordings for 30 days, and click and heatmap data for 9 months.
Google and Microsoft may process this data outside the UK. Both operate under safeguards approved for international data transfers.
Cookies we do not use
We do not use advertising, marketing or personalisation cookies. We do not track you across other websites or share your visit with social media or advertising platforms.
Our cookie banner includes options for these types of cookie, but choosing them does not currently set any cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your permission first.
Other services that do not set cookies
Our website uses fonts supplied by Google. When a page loads, your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address. Google does not set cookies for this. See our Privacy Policy for more information.
Changing your choices
You can change your cookie choices at any time using the cookie icon at the bottom of each page, including turning analytics cookies on or off.
Your choice lasts 90 days. After that, we will ask again.
You can also control and delete cookies through your browser settings; your browser's help pages explain how. This may stop parts of this or other websites from working properly.
Changes to this policy
We review this policy every year, and whenever we add or remove a tool that uses cookies.
